Amir or Amira is a village in the municipality Viannou the prefecture of Heraklion. Located in the province Viannou on the southern slopes of Mount Dicti a green frame by olive groves and fruit trees at an altitude of 680 m
In September 1943 the village was the theater massacre 114 men inhabitants, the Nazi occupation forces. The execution of the men was in place Vineyards, in retaliation for the debacle suffered by the Nazis in the Lower Symi, which killed 84 Germans. Instead Seli Paneparchiako memorial has been erected near Amira and every year is celebrated memorial for the victims of the massacre.
